Azariah of Dornakal will get us excited about, in the words of Missionary E. Stanley Jones, the greatest event of the century, the Church of South India. Its missionary efforts are matchless. Its possibilities are endless. The first fruit of the modern ecumenical movement, the CSI will lead the way to future global ecumenism. The group will discuss the ways in which the dream of the founders of CSI can be realized and what each one of us who proudly belong to this amazing faith community should do.

Workshop 5:   What is the fundamental reason for the constant harassment and violence against Christians in India?

Leader: Rev. Dr. Nehemiah Thompson

This workshop will analyze with historical illustrations, who is instigating and leading the violence against Christians and why. Scholars claim that it is the modern day Aryan invasion against which the Church rebels. Those who forget the history will be the victims of its repeat. Thus the violence against Christians is a human rights issue. It is an attempt to bring the four caste system back to Indian society. The Hindutvaparivar groups believe that the church is in the way. This explains why most of the destructions are caused to Dalit Christians.
